Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 July 2026
Lightstreet is a native iOS camera app for street photography. We built it to keep your photos on your device and your data to a minimum. This policy explains what information is collected, by what means, and how it is used.
1. What data we collect
On-device only (not transmitted to any server)
- Photos you capture, stored in the app's own gallery folder on your device and, optionally, in your iOS Photo Library.
- GPS coordinates embedded in HEIC photo metadata (EXIF) at the moment you press the shutter, if location permission has been granted.
- App preferences (selected look, aspect ratio, and similar settings) stored in iOS UserDefaults on this device.
- A device-local install identifier may be stored in the iOS Keychain to recognise returning installs. This identifier is anonymous and never leaves your device.
Transmitted to third-party services (Release builds only)
The items below apply only to App Store and TestFlight builds. Debug builds, Simulator builds, and development builds are compiled without analytics and transmit nothing.
- Anonymous app usage events (see Section 2).
- Purchase and subscription data via RevenueCat (see Section 3).
2. Anonymous usage analytics
Lightstreet collects a small set of anonymous app usage events solely to help the developer understand how the app is used, fix problems, and improve it. Examples include: the app was launched, a photo was captured, or a permission was granted during onboarding. These events describe what happened in the app, never the content involved: no filter or look names, no location data, no photo content, and nothing personally identifying is attached to any event.
Usage events are collected through TelemetryDeck , a privacy-first analytics service designed so that individual users cannot be identified. TelemetryDeck does not receive your name, email address, device name, or location. Instead, it derives an anonymous identifier from a one-way, salted hash of your Apple Vendor ID. This hash cannot be reversed to identify you, and a different salt is used for each app developer, so TelemetryDeck cannot link your activity across apps.
The app may also send the same kind of anonymous usage events, along with standard technical properties such as device model, operating system version, and app version, to an analytics service operated by the developer. This data is used for the same development and improvement purposes and nothing else. It is never sold or shared with third parties.
TelemetryDeck GmbH is the data processor for TelemetryDeck data. See TelemetryDeck's Privacy Policy for their data handling and retention practices.
3. RevenueCat (in-app purchases)
Lightstreet uses RevenueCat to manage the Lightstreet Pro subscription. When you make a purchase, restore purchases, or the app checks your subscription status, RevenueCat receives information from Apple and from your device.
RevenueCat is known to collect: device type, operating system version, app version, country and locale (derived from the App Store), Apple-issued anonymous purchase tokens and transaction identifiers, and subscription status and history. The app does not set any RevenueCat subscriber attributes such as a name, email address, or custom identifier.
RevenueCat, Inc. is the data processor for purchase-related data. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for their data handling and retention practices.
4. Location
Location access is used for one purpose: to embed GPS coordinates in the EXIF metadata of photos you capture, if location permission is granted at the time of capture.
Location is read only while the camera is open, never in the background. The app keeps no location history of its own: the only place a coordinate is stored is in a photo you took.
All location data is stored on this device only. It is not transmitted to any server by the app.
If you deny location permission, photos will not contain GPS metadata. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy and Security.
5. Camera
Camera access is required to use Lightstreet. Live camera frames are processed on-device and never transmitted. Only photos you explicitly capture are saved.
6. Photo Library
When you choose to save a photo to your iOS Photo Library, the app requests add-only permission. Lightstreet does not read or access your existing Photo Library contents.
7. No accounts
Lightstreet has no user accounts, sign-in, registration, or cloud sync. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other personally identifying information.
8. Children's privacy
Lightstreet is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us through the Lightstreet support page and we will delete it.
9. Data retention
- On-device data (photos and preferences): under your control. Deleting the app removes all data stored by Lightstreet on your device.
- TelemetryDeck events: anonymised, retained per TelemetryDeck's policy.
- Developer-operated analytics: anonymous usage events are retained only as long as they are useful for development and improvement.
- RevenueCat purchase records: retained per RevenueCat's policy and Apple's App Store requirements.
10. Your rights and choices
- Revoke camera, location, or Photo Library permission at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy and Security.
- Delete the app to remove all on-device data.
- There is no account to delete because no account is created.
- For data held by TelemetryDeck or RevenueCat, refer to their respective privacy policies linked above.
11. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will note the update date at the top of this page and describe the change in the App Store release notes. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
