Frequently asked questions

What is Lightstreet Pro and what does it include?

Lightstreet Pro is an auto-renewing subscription that unlocks the full 23-look film catalog. The free tier includes the whole camera with no time limit: photo capture, craft tools (focal framing, aspect ratios, grid, level), the Natural (no-filter) look, and a curated selection of five film looks.

Does Lightstreet upload my photos anywhere?

No. Photos are stored on your device in the app's own gallery folder, and optionally saved to your iOS Photo Library if you grant permission. The app does not upload photos to any server.

Why does the app ask for location permission?

Location is used for one thing: embedding GPS coordinates in each photo's EXIF metadata, so photos know where they were taken. It is read only while the camera is open, never in the background. You can use the camera without granting location permission; photos simply will not contain GPS data.

Can I use the app without granting location permission?

Yes. Deny location permission and the viewfinder, capture, and film looks all work normally. Photos simply will not contain GPS metadata. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy and Security, then Location Services.

How do I delete a photo?

In the gallery, swipe left on a photo to reveal the delete button. Deleted photos are removed immediately from the app's storage.

Why do my photos have GPS data in them?

When location permission is granted, Lightstreet embeds the GPS coordinates of where each photo was taken into the HEIC file's EXIF metadata. This is standard practice for camera apps and is what allows photos to appear on maps in the Photos app. If you plan to share a photo publicly and do not want the location visible, strip the EXIF before sharing: in the iOS Photos app, use the Share sheet and choose "Share without Location."

What film looks are available in the free tier?

The free tier includes Natural (no color grading) plus five curated film looks: London, Havana, and Kuala in color, and Paris and Shinjuku in monochrome. The remaining looks in the 23-look catalog (12 color, 11 monochrome) require Lightstreet Pro.

The app shows "Store unavailable" when I try to upgrade. What do I do?

This usually means there is a network issue or a temporary outage on Apple's side. Check your connection and try again in a few minutes. If the problem persists, check Apple System Status to see whether the App Store is affected.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not inside the app. To cancel: open iOS Settings, tap your Apple ID at the top, tap Subscriptions, and select Lightstreet. Apple's cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Pro access until then.

How do I delete all my data?

Deleting the app removes all photos and preferences stored by Lightstreet on your device. Lightstreet has no server-side account, so there is nothing else to request deletion of. For data held by third-party SDKs (TelemetryDeck, RevenueCat), see the Privacy Policy .

Privacy summary

Lightstreet has no user accounts and does not collect your name or email. Photos are stored on your device only. The app sends a small set of anonymous usage events, used solely for development and improvement, and transmits purchase data to RevenueCat. Location data never leaves your device.
